Sylvester H. Harris, age 79, of Abbotsford, passed away November 25, 2018 at Marshfield Medical Center.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Interment to follow at Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from 11:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
Sylvester was born on June 24, 1939, the son of Homer and Madeline (Storms) Harris in Richland Center. He attended school in Richland Center and took classes to become a cheese maker. Sylvester owned and operated Harris Cheese Factory in Unity for 20 years. He was a member of the cheese makers association and won several awards for his cheese. Sylvester also worked for the USDA as an inspector for five years and retired in 2001 after working for seven years at Weathershield in Greenwood.
On November 17, 1995, Sylvester was united in marriage to Elizabeth Lagman. He loved classic cars and won some awards. Sylvester also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He also enjoyed listening to Johnny Cash and Elvis. Sylvester especially loved camping, picnics and traveling with his family.
Sylvester is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Lagman Harris of Abbotsford; five children: Todd Harris (Lynette Larson) of MN, Sylvester (Susan) Harris, Jr. of Madison, Julie (Dana) Everson of Loganville, Adrian and Bridgette Harris both of Abbotsford; five grandchildren: Todd Harris, Jr., Troy (Cheyanne) Kilty, Travis (Carri) Weiler, Josh (Megan) Everson and Carson Harris; eight great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother Duane (Pat) Harris of Muscoda; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Brenda Weiler; his brother, Leroy and two infant sisters.
