Larry A. Grewe, age 77, of Troy, Michigan passed away February 24, 2019.

He was the son of Melvin and Theresa Grewe, Dorchester, and is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth (nee Bockin), daughter Cheryl (John) Fatcheric, son Tim (Annie) Grewe and grandchildren Brian, Jason and Jordan Grewe.   His daughter Sandra predeceased him in 2001.

A professional engineer, Larry earned a BSEE degree at UW in Madison by attending night school while working full time as a Hybrid Computer Tech at the University.  After graduating, he worked for General Electric in Schenectady, NY.   Larry was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 59 in Scotia, NY.  Canoeing in the Adirondacks was a favorite hobby and great fun for the Scouts.  He moved to Michigan to work for General Dynamics Land Systems in 1986.   He had a heart transplant in 2003 and retired.  Larry then collaborated with Joan Kempf to write “The Lone Pine Remembers”, an oral history of his family farm in Dorchester and the Bruckerville and Barry Schools.  He had a very successful book signing at the Holton Town Hall.

Larry enjoyed gardening and shared many tomatoes with his doctors at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  He enjoyed discussing politics and solving the world’s problems.  One of his favorite sayings was “When your life flashes before your eyes, make sure you enjoy the show.”  Larry’s was a life well lived.
